Vibration Protection & Condition Monitoring Systems (Standalone Vibrant® or
Integrated with CCC’s Control
Systems)
The newly-introduced Vibrant® (vibration protection and condition monitoring) system, expands CCC's trademarked Total Train Control® (TTC) offering on the Series 5 platform to include vibration protection and condition monitoring.
The integration of TTC controls with vibration protection provides added-value to our customers through single vendor responsibility and consolidation of equipment. Additionally, monitoring machinery vibration while conducting compressor performance tests for determining the surge limit will improve quality of Field Engineering surge testing methods while reducing risk.
The new Vibrant chassis provides sensor power, field connectivity, front-end signal conditioning, A/D conversion and DSP algorithms to convert electrical signals from proximity and seismic transducers to real-time protection variables. Redundant CAN bus provides communication links to transfer these protection variables from the Vibrant chassis to Series 5 controllers. Bearing temperatures, LVDT positional measurements and other process inputs for control and monitoring are measured using local inputs provided by Series 5 Vanguard® or Reliant® controllers. Standard application libraries provide ready to configure machinery protection functionality. Applications are available for shaft radial vibration, axial/thrust position, casing vibration (seismic sensors) and TSI-specific applications like shaft eccentricity, case expansion, differential expansion and valve position. All protection logic is executed in the Series 5 system which also enunciates Alarm/Alert and Danger/Trip conditions as relay outputs.
CCC’s HMI TrainTools® package is now expanded to include vibration monitoring and analysis software, capable of providing all of the industry-standard machine graphics, trends, plots, alarms, and events. Data acquisition and storage of periodic data (time-interval based) and transient data (event driven like startup, shutdown, surge, trip etc) is supported as a standard feature. Vibration specific plots and displays such as Waveform, Spectral, Orbits, Bode/Nyquist, Waterfall, Cascade and trends are available. Analysis software has LAN/WAN/OPC connectivity, while MODBUS RTU links are provided through the Series 5 platform.
Vibrant system complies with the API-670 performance specifications.
