The Digital Servo Drive (DSD)
DSD positioning system provides a stand-alone digital servo motor drive and linear actuator used to position pilot servos and valves. The all-electric design eliminates the need for a complex hydraulic or pneumatic positioner.
DSD positioning system can be used with any CCC controller. Modbus protocol is available for monitoring and configuring the DSD. This linear actuator supports continuous duty, high-velocity, and high-force applications, and is available in multiple package sizes and stroke lengths. Multiple mounting and rod-end configurations provide for smooth integration to the final control element. PC-based configuration software supports setting the servo drive for stroke length, speed and force, signal characteristics, tuning values and valve actions. Configuration files can be archived and the DSD stores all parameters in nonvolatile memory.
The DSD system offers four different control applications:
- Simplex Servo Control
- Duplex Servo Control (two DSDs and motors)
- Simplex Pilot Ram, Cascade Control
- Duplex Pilot Ram, Cascade Control (two DSDs and motors)
Rotary Fuel Valve System
A gas turbine fuel control valve with fast operating speed and high rangeability is essential for the reliable and efficient control of a gas turbine. CCC’s Rotary Fuel Valve system is designed specifically for the control of industrial and aero-derivative gas turbines. The Rotary Fuel Valve system uses an electric stepper-motor actuator and encoder feedback. The fuel valve is a balanced rotary design with precise resolution and flow control capability. The valve has a rangeability of 500:1.
A single fuel valve may be used to control start-up, ignition flow, idle flows, and for limiting
control. This allows for considerable simplification when retrofitting existing fuel skids where two control valves were previously used.
A key element in the performance of a fuel valve is its position measurement device. Accuracy in position measurement allows the valve to keep the turbine operating in its maximum efficiency range while maintaining the safety of the machine and the entire turbomachinery train. This system’s digital encoder for position measurement provides position repeatability of ±0.04 percent. The companion digital controller provides consistently accurate operation and together with the advanced technology of a CCC digital governor system, provides the finest control and protection for any turbomachinery train.
