The CCC Series 5 Emulator (S5E) program emulates Series 5 control applications (which normally run on CCC proprietary Vanguard and Reliant hardware platforms) on a personal computer (PC) running Windows 2000 or XP.

The S5E is capable of emulating up to 16 Series 5 Vanguard or Reliant controllers on a single PC (up to 256 interacting control applications). An S5E control system can be configured to exactly duplicate a field-installed (or to be installed) Series 5 control system in all architectural aspects and exact setup details, and will replicate the control responses of that system in all respects. The application software for each emulated controller is identical to that of a Reliant or Vanguard controller, except that it must be recompiled to run on a PC. Just as with real controllers, emulated controllers are built, configured, and operated using TrainTools programs running on the same PC or networked computers, thus providing an inexpensive and versatile tool for training operators and testing control system tuning and configuration changes.

S5E provides a transportable, cost-effective method of incorporating emulated CCC control systems into third-party simulation systems. S5E can also be configured to emulate Series 3, Series 3 Plus, Series 3++ and Series 4 systems, however the architectural and setup exactness cannot be replicated in all respects. Control responses are replicated exactly as those in Series 3, Series 3 Plus, Series 3++ and Series 4 systems.

Project Engineering

The turbomachinery control and custom logic applications for real and emulated Series 5 Controllers, as well as their TrainView 2 or TV2Web interfaces, are defined by a project database developed using the Project Builder, Application Editor and Generator, and TrainView 2 programs. The purchase of an S5E Software Package generally includes the development of one such customer-specified project (including the initial configuration of its controllers) by CCC project engineers. Any modification of that project or the development of additional projects can be contracted from CCC, or undertaken by customer or third-party engineers if the TrainTools Project Engineering Software Package is also purchased.
